Becky Lewis

Becky works at the Internal Revenue Service out of Area B, Territory 7 with her POD in Ogden, UT. She has been with the IRS for over 14 years with her beginnings in the Data area of Submission Processing in Ogden, UT and working throughout that Business Unit in Management. She has been in EEO for about 2 years. Her area of responsibility covers several of the western states where the IRS has campuses and remote teams in our workforce.
Becky is a Lac Courte Orielles (Law Coo Da Ray) Ojibwe Indian tribal member from Hayward, WI located in Northern Wisconsin, where she was born and raised. She served in her tribal government as Vice-Chair for several years during the 80’s & 90’s.
Becky was a part of her Tribal leadership during the tumultuous period that the treaty rights were being re-established under Federal Law. She was the spokesperson for the tribe on many of the issues of the day where she testified before committees, local, state and federal. She served on boards that help determine the procedure for carrying out the treaty rights for the individual tribal member.
She attended Weber State University, Lac Courte Orielles Community College, has been married for 38 years and is the mother of 13 children. She resides now in Liberty, UT with her husband and two youngest daughters.
"As a tribal member not living on my reservation, serving on the SAIGE National Board is a way for me to see that positive things are happening in Indian Country and that I am a part of that. This is my way to make that connection with Indian people all across the country and reach out to those that are finding their way."
