Tom Dorsey

Tom is a member of the Onondaga Indian Nation, Turtle Clan, and currently lives in Albany NY. He is a former Army reservist and for the past 26 years has worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Until recently he served as his station's Native American EEO Special Emphasis Program Manager and has served as their newsletter editor. He continues to serve as an American Indian advisor to the state-wide Veterans Administration medical entity. He is a Native American cultural competency lecturer for his agency, making presentations at local colleges and businesses, and Indian Nation events and powwows. In his statement, he says "Both my parents were American Indian, my mother Onondaga and my father undocumented Delaware. My family and clan reside on Onondaga and several of the New York State Indian Nation territories. My interests are Native advocacy, our history, art, politics and literature. I am active in several Native social and fraternal organizations. Personally, it would be a pleasure to work with other Native government employees in a native advocacy context."
