Treasurer: Shana Greenberg

Location: SAIGE Region 9

Shana Greenberg is originally from Los Angeles, California and has Mono and Chicana heritage. She is a pre-ICWA adoptee whose non-Indian adoptive parents kept her in contact with her American Indian heritage through involvement in the local Indian community and Indian educational programs in the schools. In college she was involved with the American Indian Students Council and supported herself by various jobs, including being a tutor for American Indian youth, youth employment coordinator for the Southern California Indian Center, and career advisor for the Indian Education Program in the Long Beach School District. After obtaining a BA in psychology from California State University at Long Beach, she attended Arizona State University School of Law's Indian Law Program, where she obtained a JD. She continued her involvement in the local Indian community throughout law school, as well as focusing her studies on Indian law, tribal courts and governments, and environmental law. Since graduating she has been involved in local Indian community activities and in American Indian employee activities within EPA She is currently an enforcement attorney in the Toxics and Pesticides Enforcement Division of the US EPA in Washington DC. She is a founding member of SAIGE's Board of Directors, currently completing her two-year term as Treasurer. She also is the Treasurer of the National Native American Bar Association. Using her legal background, she completed and filed SAIGE's application for incorporation as a non-profit organization. She also completed and filed the application to the Internal Revenue Service for recognition as a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization. Thanks to her diligence in making SAIGE a working organization, both applications were approved.
